Lucky Dip​

It’s the luck of the draw that could see you end up with the teacher you most admire or your regular dance partner or some random who turns out to be your dancing soul mate.  You just never know with this heat so dip in and see what you get out of it.

In this category, no one knows who their partner will be until the day itself; they may be a complete stranger, they may not!  They may be a good dancer - they may not.

Level: OPEN

  •  Participants in this category are judged as a couple.
  •  Dance partners are allocated on a random basis on the day.
  •  Traditional gender allocation applies in this category. Specifically, males are leaders and females are followers.
  •  No Aerials of any form permitted.
  •  Leans, Dips & Drops are permitted as long as the move does not conflict with Aerial definition.


Asian Connexion

The awesome cross-cultural category! Couples must be from different Ceroc franchises, and one of dancers must be from a Ceroc Asia franchise.

Level: OPEN

  •  Participants in this category are judged as a couple.
  •  No Aerials of any form permitted.
  •  Leans, Dips & Drops are permitted as long as the move does not conflict with Aerial definition.


Dance with a Stranger (DWAS)

In this section nobody knows who their partner will be and partners are changed during the heat! With this category we aim to discover the best overall individual dancers in each level. You are judged individually here so push your boundaries and excel, dancing with some of the best partners you will ever encounter. This is a true test of your skills as a dancer.

Levels: (1) BEGINNERS - (2) INTERMEDIATE - (3) OPEN - (4) BY INVITATION

  •  Participants in this category are judged individually.
  •  Dancers will be paired up with a partner the start of the category and partners will be changed during the competition.
  •  Traditional gender allocation applies in this category. Specifically, males are leaders and females are followers.
  •  No Aerials of any form permitted.
  •  Leans, Dips & Drops are permitted as long as the move does not conflict with Aerial definition.
  •  Dancing out of time with the music will not invoke penalty, as it is unclear which member of the partnership is at fault.


Freestyle

Ceroc Champs spirit at its finest. Whether you have been dancing a few months or a few years, join this category with your fixed partner to compete, gain experience and possibly even win! Be prepared to wow the judges and the audience with breath-taking moves, effortless style and expert timing.

Levels: (1) BEGINNERS - (2) INTERMEDIATE - (3) OPEN - (4) BY INVITATION

  •  Leaders and folllowers can be same gender. Unlike BOTS this is for regular serious partners to compete at their appropriate level.
  •  Aerials permitted only for the Open and By Invitation categories.
  •  Leans, Dips & Drops are permitted as long as the move does not conflict with the Aerial definition.


Battle of the Sexes (BOTS)

Bring the sexy on! Couples must comprise of two men or two ladies. This playful category is limited only by your imagination. The emphasis is about enjoying yourselves and entertaining the crowd.

Level: OPEN

  •  Participants in this category are judged as a couple.
  •  Aerials permitted.


Team Performance

A true test of the CPAC competition flair - can you and your team members impress the judges and the crowd with your choreography, musicality, precision, presentation and fun factor?

Level: OPEN

  • Each Team will dance a self-choreographed performance to their own choice of music for a minimum of 2 minutes 30 seconds and a maximum of 4 minutes.
  • The start of the performance is signalled by any audio, whether it be music, narration or sound effects including vocalised or physical (stomping/clapping etc).
  • Routines should largely consist of identifiable Ceroc moves. Non contact dancing is allowed, as long as the non-contact dance does not take up more than half the choreography.
  • Teams must be between 6 and 30 dancers.
  • All competitors that are on the floor once the music commences are deemed part of the Team and are subject to the judging criteria and competition rules.
  • Team couples may be same sex.
  • Each team must nominate a Representative through whom all discussions with the Ceroc Asia organisers will take place.
  • The Representative must submit a definitive list of all team members and the final name of the Team at least 3 weeks prior to the event.
  • Music is to be provided in MP3 format to the Ceroc Asia organisers by the Representative at least 3 weeks prior to the event.
  • Routines will be judged for their 'entertainment' value. This takes consideration of, but not limited to:

 - Musical Interpretation
 - Choreography
 - Quality of Dancing
 - Synchronicity
 - Dress
 - Performance: engagement with audience and one another and use of expression
 - Imagination: Innovation of theme and content
 - Use of Space: Formation, shape and placement

Double Trouble

Fancy a threesome on the dance floor? Grab a couple of friends and get ready to have some fun.  Trios can consist of any gender.

Level: OPEN

  •  Participants in this category are judged as a trio.
  •  The lead can swap within the trio as long as one person leads and the other two follow the lead.
  •  Aerials permitted.


Take the Lead

Calling all followers who want to take the rein and leaders who wants to show off their following skills! Couples must comprise of one female leader and one male follower.

Level: OPEN

  •  Participants in this category are judged as a couple.
  •  No Aerials of any form permitted.
  •  Dips & Drops are permitted as long as the move does not conflict with Aerial definition.


Music Mash Up

New for 2018!  This heat tests you and your fixed partner’s skills to adapt to whatever our Champs DJ throws at you. With 4 x 30 seconds of contrasting songs for you and your partner’s dancing delight, you will be challenged!  From slow to fast, quirky to silky, outrageous to in-the-box, can you change the flavour and style of your dance interpretation on the go?

Level: OPEN

  •  Participants in this category are judged as a couple.
  •  Dips & Drops are permitted as long as the move does not conflict with Aerial definition.
  •  Aerials permitted.
